I woke into the world one night
When stars were cold and thoughts were bare
And heard you call my name
And went
And found you standing, shivering, there.
And kissed your eyes, your worried eyes,
And touched
And breathed your loosened hair,
And warmed your body with my own,
And whispered words you would not dare.
